Residents say the namesakes of several Bronx parks named after renowned African-Americans deserve more recognition. Sgt. Cornelius Charlton, a Korean War veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, has a park named after him, as does community activist Eae Mitchell. "Teachers should be taking students here and teaching them about the man it was built for and what his legacy is," says resident Reuban Rivera, a regular at Charlton Park.
