The Queen Mary 2 docked in Red Hook Tuesday after completing its maiden world cruise, and many passengers walked right past local stores.
Van Brunt Street business owners say they haven't seen much of an expected windfall. Some hoped for extra business when the world's largest cruise liner dropped thousands of people off in the borough. Owners say passengers simply got on buses and headed to Manhattan.
Red Hook businesses want the city's Economic Development Corporation to better promote the area's restaurants, antique shops and unique stores. They say tourists need to understand that New York City is more than just Manhattan.
