A Rikers Island correction officer from Brooklyn is accused of smuggling drugs and weapons into the jail.
Officials say Kevin McKoy was caught carrying 16 packages of contraband in his pants during a shift-change screening. The packages contained items such as scalpels, synthetic marijuana and narcotics.
Officials say they later searched his car and home, and more Rikers contraband items were found.
McKoy faces 20 felony charges and some misdemeanors for allegedly trying to smuggle in the contraband.
The charges are pending review by the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
