Rip current alert: Swimming at NYC public beaches prohibited through Thursday
Mayor Eric Adams announced that swimming at New York City’s public beaches is prohibited through Thursday due to high risk of rip currents generated by Hurricane Erin.
News 12’s Hope Osemwenkhae said the storm would make its closest approach Thursday night into Friday – bringing life-threatening rip currents to the ocean-facing beaches.
A high surf advisory will also go into effect Wednesday morning through 6 p.m. Thursday.
