If you are looking for a quick road
trip without leaving the city, look no further than Little Island.
Stationed on Manhattan's West Side,
the recently opened park is built above the Hudson River, supported by 132
concrete tulip pots covered with lush greenery and hundreds of different
species of plants.
The park was designed to look like
a leaf floating on the water as a place for New Yorkers to relax, as part of an
initiative of the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation and city's plan to
restore Pier 54.
There are paths that wind
throughout the park, and even an amphitheater overlooking the river where there
are occasionally pop-up performances.
The park is open daily from 6 a.m.
to 1 a.m., with reservations needed for timed entry after 12 p.m. daily.
