Forty-five years after the deadly 1981 Brink’s armored truck robbery, Rockland County gathered to remember the three men killed during the incident and the escape that followed.

This year’s memorial also paid special tribute to Joe Trombino, a Brink’s guard who survived being shot during the robbery. Trombino later survived the 1993 World Trade Center bombing but was killed in the North Tower during the Sept.11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The annual ceremony honors those who lost their lives and ensures their sacrifices are never forgotten.
