A local nonprofit made sure that love was in the air at hospitals on Valentine’s Day by handing out gifts for mothers and patients.
The staff at Maimonides Medical Center went around to rooms across the hospital, handing out special roses to mothers and patients to help them feel special on a day where love is celebrated.
Aside from flowers, wagons also had toys, letters and other gifts to help lift the spirits of those in the hospital. This is a tradition that started a decade ago to honor the life of Matthew Fetzer, who died of cancer when he was 10 years old.
“This kind of boosted my energy from a seven to a 17,” said one patients. “I’m receiving random love that was unexpected and it’s doing exactly what the goal was for them.”
