More than 300 runners packed Prospect Park for the annual 5K for CHiPS, a Brooklyn soup kitchen and temporary residence for homeless mothers and their children.
CHiPS, located in Park Slope, has been a helping hand to the community since 1971.
Event organizer Martha Doble says the support is especially touching because the cause hits close to home, since she celebrated her first birthday at the soup kitchen as a baby.
The group hopes to raise awareness for the local organization that's rebuilt many lives, one step at a time.
