The Salko Farm and Stable in Southport is beginning a new chapter after being run by the same family for over 70 years.

Andrew Salko purchased the family farm in 1948. His son Chris Salko took over the farm when he was just 19 years old.

“I chose to continue on the farm rather than go off to college,” he says.

Chris Salko spent decades working to improve the place, adding stalls and an indoor riding ring. He says he got to know generations of riders.

“We have persevered, kept this property, kept the farm going, “ he says.

Chris Salko was making the farm the best it could be, when a dating app changed everything. He began messaging Jane, an account and yoga teacher from Canada.

It was a big change in Jane's lifestyle to move to the ranch, but the contrasting couple got married.

Their first step in innovating the farm together was buying a tiny house for guests.

Jane Salko is also becoming certified in equine gestalt coaching.

“I started to learn about horses and my life just completely flipped upside down,” she says.

While Salko Farm may feel like a timeless home for horses, a human romance is mapping a path to the future

“It's a place to just come and start fresh and get a new perspective,” Jane Salko says.
