An Arab language and culture academy ousted from Park Slope?s P.S. 282 has a new home.

The Department of Education confirms the Khalil Gibran International Academy will operate out of a Dean Street building that already houses the Brooklyn High School of the Arts and the Math and Science Exploratory School. The schools will share the cafeteria, computer lab and other common areas.

Many parents of P.S. 282 students are pleased the academy will not be operating out of their elementary school. They expressed concern that the middle school students would have too much interaction with their young children. Some parents even said they were worried the school would become a haven for radical Islam.

The Khalil Gibran International Academy will open in September with about 60 sixth-graders.
