A second child has now died following Monday's deadly apartment fire on Bainbridge Avenue in Fordham.
Six-year-old Isis Parks died from injuries sustained during the fire. Her twin brother is still fighting for his life in the hospital.
Earlier this week, the twins' brother, 1-year-old Liam Parks, also died after suffering smoke inhalation during the blaze. The children's family says their mother had stepped outside to get another child from the school bus when the fire started. When she went back inside, relatives say the smoke was too intense to reach the children.
All three children were rescued from the building and rushed to the hospital. Liam later died from his injuries, followed by Isis on Thursday.
Officials say eight people were injured in the fire, and 38 residents have now been displaced after the Department of Buildings issued a full vacate order for the apartment complex.
The Parks family has since started a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and other costs as they grieve the loss of two children.
Firefighters are still investigating what caused the fire.
