Families at a Kingsbridge shelter were gifted toys for the holiday season on Saturday.
New York City Service, a division of the Mayor’s Office, fulfills the wish list of thousands of children across the city.
The Secret Snowflake is the Mayor's Office's annual winter gift-giving drive, which mobilizes mayoral volunteers, private sector employees, and other groups to donate to youth in need.
"Families who are here with us, deserve just the same as you and I deserve, and they're getting that today and they're ecstatic. I'm so grateful to be here with them today and be a part of the celebration," said Joslyn Carter, a DHS administrator.
The initiative will be passing out gifts to shelters across the city from now until January.
