A Crown Heights filmmaker tackles the subject of interracial friendships in her new film "Go Fish."

Jamila J. Brown says the neighborhood played a major part in the telling of the story.

The film is set in Crown Heights shortly after a riot in 1991 that highlighted tensions between the African-American and Orthodox Jewish communities.

The short movie, which was filmed in just seven days and financed through the fundraising website Indiegogo, follows two young girls who look past the prejudices of their parents and build a strong friendship.

Brown says she plans to enter the movie into film festivals and hopes to release it to the public by the end of the year.
