Somerset County switches over to Gmail to keep agencies running following ransomware attack

A ransomware attack earlier this week has forced officials in Somerset County to temporarily switch over to Gmail to keep agencies, such as health, emergency and sheriff's departments, up and running.
The attack, which began Tuesday, only affected email and IT systems, including a web form in which residents can request replacement mail-in ballots for next month's state primary election.
Phone lines and emergency service systems are all working properly.
A county official said the FBI is investigating the incident. It’s unclear who was responsible for the hack.
