Bronx native Justice Sonia Sotomayor took her seat on the Supreme Court Tuesday afternoon in front of a packed courtroom that included President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
Sotomayor, who is the first Latina to serve on the Supreme Court, was honored with a ceremony Tuesday before she will begin hearing cases and working on the court Wednesday.
Sotomayor's first case will be one on the role corporations can play in influencing elections. Two decisions restricting corporate funding to support political campaigns could be overturned.
