St. Francis College received a $1.5 million check to support lab upgrades and career training for future nurses and health care workers.
The state-of-the-art lab at St. Francis College will now be making upgrades to help give students a more hands-on experience of working with patients in the real world.
Rep. Nydia Velazquez toured the lab and presented the school with the check. She says that during the COVID-19 pandemic, she saw a dire need to invest in the heroes that work in the health care industry.
"St. Francis College will work with our local hospital, Brooklyn Health Center to create and pilot a faculty in residence program for clinical nurses creating a pipeline of highly trained nursing faculty,” said Velazquez. “Funding like this is key to our existence and our growth. Grants like this enable us to supplement the cost of the nursing program.”
