State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has joined the calls for Assemblyman Vito Lopez (D-Brooklyn) to resign.
Lopez has given up his leadership post from Brooklyn's Democratic party following allegations that he sexually harassed female staffers, but he has yet to resign from office. Silver says if his refusal continues, he will pursue other means to oust him.
Silver also came under fire last week for using more than $100,000 in taxpayer money to quiet separate sexual harassment charges against Lopez.
Several local activists say they plan to call for Lopez to resign tomorrow in front of city hall. Lopez's office declined to comment.
