The State Department is looking to expand New York's medical marijuana program.
Doctors say it remains illegal to smoke marijuana even for medical purposes, but it can be used as an oil via drops, vapor pen or capsules.
Under the proposed new regulations, medical marijuana would come in new forms like chewable tablets, lotions and lozenges.
Giving more options to medical marijuana users is drawing mixed opinions from residents. Some relate it to the epidemic surrounding opioid and prescription painkiller addiction, while others say they're fine with it helping those who need it.
The new regulations are expected to go into effect next month, following a public comment period.
