A second person has died from injuries sustained when a Megabus traveling from New York to Philadelphia overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in Woodbridge, according to New Jersey State Police.

The crash happened Tuesday just before 7 p.m. on the southbound side of the highway. State police say the 56-year-old bus driver lost control of the bus and struck a Ford F-150 pick-up truck that was traveling in the left-center lane. Police say that after striking the F-150, the bus struck a guardrail and then overturned on the entrance ramp of the Thomas Edison Service Area.

Police say that two bus passengers were killed, and 16 passengers were injured. Police say 59-year-old Bronx resident Cheryl Jonson died at the scene. Cecilia Kiyanitza, 66, of Woodbury, was taken to the hospital by helicopter, but later died from her injuries.

Police say two other passengers and the bus driver suffered serious injuries and 14 others had injuries that were not considered to be life threatening.

It was not immediately clear what caused the bus driver to lose control of the bus.
