Arctic air continues to dominate the forecast, bringing bitter cold, strong winds, and dangerous wind chills to close out the weekend. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel well below zero at times, especially early on, even with sunshine trying to break through.
While skies trend brighter heading into the new week, the cold is slow to let go. Daytime temperatures remain well below seasonal averages through Monday, and wind chills stay in the single digits and below zero at times. Any outdoor plans will need extra layers and caution due to the wind.
Gradual moderation arrives by midweek as winds ease and temperatures begin a slow climb. Clouds will mix in, but overall conditions improve, with highs approaching the upper 30s to near 40 by Tuesday and Wednesday. While it won’t feel warm, the worst of the Arctic blast finally loosens its grip heading toward the end of the week.
Sunday: Sunny but brutally cold. Afternoon temperatures stay in the teens, with wind chills ranging from 5 below to 15 below zero thanks to persistent northwest winds.
Monday: Bright sunshine continues, but it remains cold. Highs reach the upper 20s to near 30, with lingering sub-zero wind chills early before slowly improving during the afternoon.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy and milder. Temperatures climb into the upper 30s, a noticeable step up from earlier in the week.
Wednesday: Partly sunny and seasonably cool. Highs hover in the upper 30s to near 40, with lighter winds making it feel more tolerable.
Thursday: Mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid-30s, still cool but far less harsh than the start of the week.
Friday: Partly sunny and steady, with highs in the low to mid-30s.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and continued gradual improvement, as temperatures rise into the mid-30s.
