New York City is still dealing with dangerous cold, even though the wind advisory has ended. The Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. today, with wind chills well below zero. After that, a Cold Weather Advisory takes over from 1 p.m. today through 10 a.m. Monday, as wind chills stay hazardous. Actual temperatures today remain in the teens, and the gusty northwest winds will keep it feeling much colder.
Tonight into early Monday will be the coldest stretch. Overnight lows will range from near zero to around 10, and even with slightly weaker winds, wind chills will drop to around -5 to -10. Conditions slowly improve Monday morning, with temperatures climbing into the upper 20s to near 30 by afternoon. Wind chills will rise above zero late Monday morning, marking the end of dangerous cold conditions in the city.
Looking ahead, temperatures gradually moderate through the rest of the week. Highs will mostly be in the 30s, with overnight lows in the teens and 20s—still cold, but not as extreme. Wind chills should remain above zero after Monday, making conditions more manageable overall.
There is a low chance of light snow midweek and again toward the weekend, but any snow in NYC is expected to be minor and well below advisory levels (less than 3 inches). No major winter storms are anticipated at this time.
