New York City will continue to see warmer-than-normal temperatures for the next few days. Daytime highs on Tuesday will once again reach the upper 60s and mid 60s on Wednesday. The only exception will be closer to the water. The ocean water is still very cold, neighborhoods closer to the coast may cool down a bit in the afternoons and evenings when winds blow in from the water. During the next couple of nights, areas near the water could also see patches of low clouds and fog develop.
Overall, Monday through Wednesday should feel mild across the city. Some parts of the region could see temperatures running 15–20 degrees above normal at times. Despite the warmth during the day, the cooler ocean breeze may make evenings feel noticeably chillier, especially near the shoreline.
The next significant weather change arrives Wednesday night into Thursday as a strong storm system moves through. Rain is expected to develop Wednesday night with gusty winds. As colder air quickly moves in behind the system early Thursday, some of the rain could briefly mix with or change to wet snow showers before ending.
By Thursday afternoon and evening, temperatures will drop quickly, and winds will become blustery, making it feel much colder across New York City. Many places are likely to fall into the 30s by the end of the day, and temperatures could dip to near freezing Thursday night as the colder air settles in to close out the week.
