Overnight will bring black ice concerns and additional accumulation snowfall. The snow will happen by early morning on Wednesday-- and is not expected to be significant. Likely between a coating to 2" at the most. While we don't want any additional snowfall after the blizzard, this snowfall is tricky for two reasons. 1. It happens during the Wednesday morning commute. 2. It could cover up areas of black ice-- already difficult to see-- and lead to more dangerous road and sidewalk conditions.
This will clear out by late morning, and the rest of the day should be alright. Temperatures will be above freezing so we will likely see more snow melt leading to large puddles and some flowing water in gutters or along sidewalks and roads.
After that, there is a chance for a wintry mix and freezing rain event on Thursday late afternoon or evening. On the positive side-- the latest guidance and models have this trending out of our area. We will continue to monitor this, and as we get through Wednesday morning's snow, that will allow better computer model understanding for Thursday.
Temperatures will stay above freezing starting on Wednesday for a few days-- which combined with a better February sun angle will help do some melting. Of course, this was a mammoth storm with between a foot and a half and two feet of snow so it will take a while to get this fully cleared out. Hopefully, since temperatures are not as continuously frigid (like January's storm) we will see that sooner rather than later.
