A storm system passing through New England tonight will bring gusty winds to the New York City area. Winds will pick up from the south tonight with gusts around 25–35 mph before easing later tonight as a cold front moves through. A brief mix of rain or wet snow is possible, otherwise most of the night will be dry

Behind the front, winds shift to the west on Saturday and remain breezy through much of the day. Gusts could reach 35–40 mph at times in the New York City area before gradually weakening late in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will climb into the lower 50s in the city, making it a bit milder than normal for mid-March.

A much stronger storm system will begin affecting the New York City area late Sunday night. Rain will develop overnight and become heavier at times on Monday. Strong southerly winds will also increase as the storm approaches, making for a wet and windy start to the workweek.

Monday looks like the most impactful period. Periods of moderate to heavy rain, gusty winds, and possibly a few thunderstorms could move through the New York City area. Rainfall totals may reach 1 to 2 inches, which could lead to ponding on streets and minor flooding in low-lying spots. Wind gusts could exceed 45 mph at times before conditions gradually improve later Monday night. Behind Monday's storm it will be unseasonably chilly for St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday.
