Strong gusts up to 30-35 mph blow in colder air through New Jersey today.
The morning started with milder temperatures in the lower 40s/upper 30s, however the winds drop temperatures through the 30s into the late morning and afternoon.
Friday morning will be frigid with low temperatures near 19 and feels like temperatures between 0 and 10 degrees. This cold weather will remain throughout the day with highs struggling to reach the freezing mark by the afternoon. This cold is dangerous if underdressed.
Saturday's weather is generally cold and cloudy with passing snow and rain showers. Snow is likely elevation dependent with a light dusting possible. This is a meager system that won't deliver much as it gently passes by.
Sunday's situation is complex. A coastal storm is expected to emerge across the Carolina coast with the subtropic jet stream. This storm is currently more likely to take a southern track, which provides coastal and southern NJ with a glancing blow of light snow.
This "fringe effect" won't blanket much of the state except for areas south and east with light accumulations. The other scenario would be a more northerly track, which hits the state with plowable snow, especially south and east. The trend this season can be described by storms taking a more northerly track than expected, which does lend more attention to the possibility of such an impact.
It is important to watch how the forecast evolves over the next few days since it will required further analysis before committing to any aforementioned scenario.
