- Meteorological winter officially starts today and brings with it an arctic blast and wintry weather this week.
Today will be the calm before the storm with plenty of sunshine, cold temperatures and breezy conditions. Highs will be in the low-40s with gusts up to 25 mph.
- The storm arrives after 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Cold steady rain will be moderate to heavy at times throughout the day. Northern parts of the Bronx could start off with a rain and wet snow mix before transitioning to all rain. No accumulation is expected. Large puddles, ponding and poor visibility will bring nasty travel conditions.
- If you’re traveling out of the city, the first accumulating snow of the season will be North and West of the boroughs. A thump of heavy wet snow will bring dangerous travel conditions over interior portions of the Hudson Valley and Northwest Jersey. Over 3”+ of snow is expected.
- After Tuesday’s storm, a Winter chill settles in this week with highs in the 30s and 40s. The coldest morning this week will be on Friday. Wake-up temperatures will be near 20 degrees. This will be the coldest morning so far this season.
