NYS could make it illegal to text while crossing the street

Texting while crossing the street could soon become illegal in New York state.
A bill is on the table in the state Senate looking to ban people from using portable electronics while crossing the road.
If it passes and someone is caught texting and crossing, they could face a fine of up to $50.
The transportation committees in both the Assembly and the Senate will have to approve the measure before it can go before a full vote.
