Suffolk County officials announced a multi-million dollar investment for electric vehicles on Earth Day.
Approximately $12 million will be invested for the purchases of electric vehicle and the necessary charging infrastructure.
County Executive Steve Bellone says the critical investments will help reduce harmful emissions, strengthen infrastructure and help mitigate risks posed by climate change.
"We're here today executing, talking about how we're executing that plan to put us in a position to help protect our planet and help protect us and what we love and our quality of life here," Bellone says.
The investment is part of an effort to advance Suffolk County's plan to transition to an electric vehicle fleet by 2030.
