A fire tore through an apartment building in Central Islip, leaving at least two dozen people displaced.
Central Islip Fire Department's chief says more than 100 firefighters from multiple departments battled the blaze on Hawthorne Avenue.
News 12 spoke with residents who can't go back home, as well as the fire chief, about the massive response to knock down the flames.
Fire officials say a total of 12 units were damaged in the fire.
Everybody from the building was displaced and the Lighthouse Church is housing some of them. The Red Cross is also assisting.
