WHAT TO KNOW

Tonight, gusty winds will linger behind today's sharp cold front, maintaining rough conditions and a small craft advisory on the Sound. Sunday will easily be the better half of the weekend, bringing abundant sunshine, lighter winds, and a milder feel as high temperatures rebound into the 70s.

A more seasonable pattern will settle in heading into next week, featuring daytime highs staying in the 70s and cooler nights dropping into the 50s. There is a risk of some showers popping up during the first half of the week, but because there is a high level of uncertainty regarding the exact timing of the rain, be sure to check back for updates.

Beach & Coastal Concerns:
GALE WARNING for area waters. A moderate risk of rip currents continues at area ocean beaches through Sunday. Even though weather conditions may appear calm, dangerous currents can develop unexpectedly. Swim only where lifeguards are present and exercise caution if entering the water.

Additionally, the combination of the upcoming full moon and elevated water levels could lead to isolated instances of minor coastal flooding around the evening high tides this weekend, particularly in vulnerable shoreline and back-bay locations. Any flooding issues should be minor and localized.
