A Sunset Park doctor stepped outside of her office Friday to show a select few patients how to eat healthier.
Marry Ellis, a doctor at Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, took patients on a supermarket tour, helping them read labels, wash fruits effectively and show how to cook with healthier carbs.
Among her tips are to cook with spices that have anti-inflammatory properties, like cinnamon, cumin andnutmeg. She also encourages using quinoa and brown rice.
Ellis says she hopes her patients will take the tips into their kitchens and share them with their families.
