Hundreds of SUNY Maritime cadets have returned to The Bronx after spending the past three months at sea.
More than 1,000 cheering family and friends were at the Maritime College Pier to welcome home their loved ones, who earned their coast guard licenses during a 90-day training program.
The students traveled as far north as Iceland before making their way across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe and islands near Spain. While on board the 560-foot tanker, they got hands-on experience to prepare them for a career in the maritime industry.
The cadets will now have a week break before returning to the classroom.
