A taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint in Brownsville.

Police say the incident happened on April 30 at Newport and Osborn streets just before 4 a.m. A passenger got into the tax of the 49-year-old driver. When the driver asked for payment prior to arriving at the destination, the passenger refused.

The driver and passenger got out of the vehicle and had a confrontation. The passenger took out a knife and took the driver’s wallet containing $400 and several credit cards. The driver fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries. EMS took him to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center and he is expected to recover.

Anyone with information is asked to call NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477)
