Dozens of teachers and parents protested Tuesday the dismissal of teacher Kimani Brown from the Frederick Douglass Academy in Bed-Stuy.Supporters say Brown, a special education teacher and teachers? union representative, was dismissed from the academy after speaking out about the school?s conditions.?His crime is that he said some special needs children should have some more services,? says teachers? union president Randi Weingarten.Brown believes the academy?s principal, Marian Bowden, mistook his concern for insubordination. He also says he was written up for misconduct and told not to return to class.Brown?s supporters say the move only hurts the children.
