Teenagers
looking for summer plans won’t need to shell out cash to hit the gym.
Planet
Fitness is welcoming New York City’s teens to work out in their gyms with their
“High School Summer Pass” – a membership that staff are hoping will motivate
students to stay active over summer break.
“Health
and wellness is more important than anything else,” said NYC Schools Chancellor
David Banks. “It’s more important than math and science and the reason I’m
telling you that is because without your health, nothing else matters.”
Along
with the free membership, Planet Fitness is giving students even more of an
incentive to participate by awarding one lucky student from every state with a
$500 scholarship.
Students
can sign up online or at any one of the 41 locations across the city, and the
program runs until the end of August.
