Dozens of students woke up early Saturday to volunteer as part of New York Cares Day.
Some teens spent the day picking up trash, pulling out weeds and painting murals at some Brooklyn schools.
Many of the students say that while it was hard to get up early when they don't have school, it's good to give back to the community.
The event is also a fundraiser for New York Cares' programs.
Organizers say all the money raised helps fund year-round education programming such as tutoring.
