Tenants at an Ocean Hill public housing building say that they have been living in horrendous conditions for far too long.

Michael Burton, a tenant, says he's lucky to be alive after his ceiling came crashing down on him while he was sleeping on July 10. Burton claims he's been trying to contact city housing officials to fix the ceiling for about three weeks.

News 12 reached out to NYCHA and soon after two carpenters arrived to Burton's apartment to assess the damage.

A NYCHA spokesperson says that they are having a difficult time making timely repairs due to lack of funding. They say they will make appointments to address the ceiling repairs for the affected apartments.

News 12 visited the housing complex today and found partially collapsed ceilings and evidence of mold.
