Tenants in an apartment at the Breukelen Houses in Canarsie say they didn't have a working sink for more than a year.
Calvin Drumgo, a tenants rights activist who showed the apartment to News 12, said the residents had to brush their teeth in the tub.
While News 12 cameras where in the building, workers entered to fix the issue. Neighbors want to know what took so long.
In a statement, NYCHA said the workers installed a temporary sink during the Tuesday visit, and further repairs will be made in the kitchen and bathroom.
"The state of the repair and pace of its completion is unacceptable, and we apologize for the impact it has had on the family," a spokesperson for the housing authority said.
Drumgo blamed the delay on a common "runaround" tenants often face when they need repairs.
