Tenants living in a NYCHA building in Crown Heights say they are struggling to stay warm due to inadequate heat in their building.

Rosemary Maloney says she is forced to boil water in pots on her stove in order to try and heat her apartment. Maloney says she knows it's dangerous but can't take the cold anymore. She says the problem has been ongoing since last year. Maloney adds that at one point last year she had ice on her windows.

Maloney's neighbor also complains about the lack of heat. Melinda Veazy says she keeps her oven set to 500 degrees and keeps the door open. She says in addition to the heating trouble, she also gets floods in her bedroom when it rains.

NYCHA tells News 12, "NYCHA staff have visited the apartment and note that the resident is receiving heat at this time. NYCHA will inspect the resident's windows for any potential damage." 

As for the leaks, NYCHA officials say staff will monitor the apartments affected.
