A Bed-Stuy apartment building caught fire Thursday night, according to the FDNY.
The fire started around 8:45 p.m. on the third floor. Officials say it took firefighters about one hour to get it under control.
“I came running down the stairs and fire was shooting out all the windows and we had to run out," said Lisa, a resident on the second floor.
Lisa and other residents living on the first floor tell News 12 the Red Cross provided them with only one night at a hotel, as their apartments were deemed livable by an unknown agency.
A spokesperson for the Department of Buildings says they were not called to the fire.
News 12 reached out to the Red Cross to find out which department inspected the apartments and is waiting to hear back.
