Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson was sworn in Sunday to serve the borough for another four years.

The inauguration took place at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts.

“This is for my mom,” Gibson said after taking the oath, administered by New York State Attorney General Letitia James.

Community members and elected officials attended the ceremony, with many celebrating the impact of Gibson’s re‑election.

“Any woman could become anything that they set their mind to,” said attendee Devri Goins.

Others said they hope Gibson will address housing and homelessness.

“I’m hoping that more is done with housing issues. There are a lot of homeless families, and there are a lot of people in shelters, but not in a regular house setting,” said attendee Diane Torres.

Gibson announced her slogan for the new term, The Bronx Leads, with investments focused on mental health, Black maternal health disparities and education.

This year, Bronxites can expect several projects to open, including a new blood center in Throggs Neck, the redevelopment of the Orchard Beach pavilion and a Bronx High School for Hip‑Hop scheduled to open in September.
