? The pope has appointed three new auxiliary bishops to the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Monsignor Octavio Cisneros, is a Cuban refugee who says holding Mass in Spanish is one way to attract those who have drifted away from the church due to language barriers. Monsignor Caggiano, a Brooklyn native, says he is optimistic that immigrants can help with the diminishing rates of Catholic school enrollment. Monsignor Sanssaricq hopes to aid Haitian, Caribbean, and African illegal immigrants straighten their status in the U.S.
All three agree on immigrant communities being the future of the Catholic Church in Brooklyn. The bishops will be officially ordained on Tuesday August 22 at an undetermined location.
