Family and friends gathered Friday to pay their final respects to the 3-year-old whose life was cut short during a shooting incident last weekend.
Tajmere Clark was at a family party when police say General Lee Waiters, the boyfriend of a family member, opened fire after being told to stop drinking. Police say Clark, her grandmother, a teenage girl and a 23-year-old man were shot as relatives tried to wrestle the gun from Waiters. Those who spoke at the funeral said the little girl is in a better place. They also urged the community to unite against violence.
Police say Waiters, who also was injured, has confessed to the shooting. He is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
