AAA says 80 million Americans are set to travel over 50 miles for Thanksgiving this Holiday, including at JFK airport.
Tuesday saw the one of the nation's busiest airports handling the pre-holiday rush, with no major delays or cancellations for the day before a top day of travel year-round.
Passengers tell News 12 they are glad to be spared the worst of what is often an infamous travel day.
"I was expecting it to be packed and slammed but it was smooth got through TSA with no problem," said Erik, who was traveling from Florida.
But not everyone was so lucky.
Traveler Victor Xu tells News 12 that after his hour-long flight from Rochester to JFK it took over an hour to get to the area where he could call an uber home.
"New York is so busy and packed, all the terminals, I rushed all the way here from Terminal 5 but I was able to catch the AirTrain, which saved me some time," he said.
For others traveling on Tuesday, it was a way to surprise family.
"I'm coming a day early, my wife and kids don't know I'm here right now," said Andre, from Uniondale.
Clear skies are expected to continue throughout Tuesday, though incoming rain could spell future delays heading into Wednesday.
According to FlightAware, Tuesday saw a 100% increase in flight delays, compared to Monday's air-travel volume.
