Construction of the Under The K Bridge Park in Greenpoint is officially done, and the park is now open for New Yorkers to enjoy.

The park has 407 acres of open space, which some local politicians called a much-needed gift to the community, after spending many months inside during the pandemic.

The park is all connected to a shared path on the Brooklyn bound span of the Kosciuszko Bridge that borders the Jamaica Bay.

Visitors can now look forward to lawns for picnics near the Manhattan skyline, a rain garden, plenty of wooded areas and wildlife.

Beneath the bridge's approach there's also areas to accommodate seating, a large plaza area designed to inspire movement, from roller skating to skateboarding, and a larger hill area to accommodate viewing of programs and performances.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the park is living proof that the project not only helped connect two boroughs, but is also helping transform a community.

The park will be open every day from dawn to dusk.
