Operation
Gratitude recognized some of the city’s unsung heroes on Wednesday.
More
than 6,000 gift bags were presented to 911 dispatchers and NYPD officers, who handle
crisis situations daily.
They
were filled with pens, ChapStick, coffee, candy, a handmade bracelet and
thank you notes as tokens of appreciation.
Even
though it may seem like a small act of kindness, Operation Gratitude CEO Kevin
Schmiegel says it’s a start.
"It
does mean a lot sometimes. Those two words can mean the world to somebody," said one dispatcher.
