FDNY: School bus crashes into gate in Flatbush; mom and 8-year-old boy in hospital

Police say a school bus crashed into the fence surrounding Cortelyou Academy, located at 2739 Bedford Ave. around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses tell News 12 they believe the driver was trying to park and hit the gas rather than the brake.
Police say a 43-year-old mother and her 8-year-old son were hit by the bus. Sources say the young boy got caught under the vehicle. Administrators say the boy was a third grader and student at the school.
Officials say they were both transported to Maimonides Medical Center and are in stable condition.
The driver did stay on the scene.
News 12 reached out to the bus company, Total Transportation, but is still waiting for a response.
