Some volunteers in Bushwick joined together to help clean up their favorite recreational space.
The volunteers put on their lime green and blue vests and got to work at Maria Hernandez Park despite the showers early Sunday.
"It means a lot to me because being a local resident in this area, I'm really just able to give back as best I can," says volunteer Jasmine Fabian.
Volunteers tackled garbage cleanup, weeding and painting some of the park benches.
The cleanup was hosted by ASEZ Saving the Earth from A to Z, along with the Brooklyn borough president's office in an effort to transform parks into community assets.
