Illicit cannabis retailers in New York are set to face some hefty fines under new legislation signed Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
"We have zero tolerance for bad actors standing in the way of our success," the governor said at an event in Brooklyn.
Fines could reach as high as $20,000 for those illegally selling cannabis products. Additionally, the new plan would allow for businesses that violate these terms repeatedly to be shut down until they comply.
"I want to be aggressive, I want to get this done," she added.
