White House: People who have recently left NYC should self-quarantine for 14 days
President Donald Trump's Coronavirus Task Force is giving an update on coronavirus.
BRIEFING NOTES:
-Though FEMA, President Trump says the federal government is distributing more than 8 million N95 respirators, 14 million surgical masks, 2.4 million face shields, 1.9 million surgical gowns, 13.5 million gloves. Four-thousand respirators are headed to New York, according to President Trump.
-Congress is working to pass the "biggest and boldest" financial relief package that would provide money to struggling Americans.
-The president says he is hoping the country will reopen by Easter.
-President Trump says the threat of using the Defense Production Act is "great leverage" and says companies are making strides in producing needed medical equipment.
"We are receiving full cooperation from companies with the understanding that the federal government stands ready to compel cooperation, if need be," says President Trump. "We haven't found that to be the case."
-US Navy Hospital ship to arrive in New York Harbor in the “not to distant future.”
-Financial relief package includes direct cash payments to Americans. Job retention loans for small business and extended unemployment benefits for laid off workers. President Trump says it includes additional resources for hospitals and “hard hit” industries, such as airlines.
-Due to spike in infections, people who have recently left New York City should self-quarantine for 14 days, monitor your temperature and symptoms. 
-People who are not showing symptoms are not to be tested. Tests are only for people who are showing symptoms.
-Dr. Deborah Birx says 370,000 tests that have been done so far in the U.S. – more than 220,000 have been performed in the last eight days.
