Williamsburg residents are raising money to help save a beloved dog café that recently announced it will be closing on Monday.

The Boris and Horton Café opened its first location in the East Village six years ago. Its second location was opened in 2023 and was the first dog café in Brooklyn.

"It's tough," said Boris and Horton Cafe owner Logan Mikhly. I mean I think rent is really really expensive and our primary businesses driver is coffee and pastries."

The dog-friendly business grew into a community staple. The shop has a family of frequent customers who use the space to work and socialize.

"After we announced our closure the community really rallied around us and basically asked to keep us open so we thought about it and started a little fundraising drive," added Mikhly.

The owners have made a goal of $250,000 to be reached by Monday. If the goal is met, the business will try to remain open.

As of Sunday, over $150,000 was raised.
